Q Do I need to clean my glass before the retrofit?
A No not at all. All the glass from your windows will be removed and replaced with new Insulated Glazing Units (IGU’s). Q What do I need to do in preparation for the retrofit? A There is no need to take any curtains down. We do however, ask that you move any furniture surrounding the windows being retrofitted. On the outside of the house, trim any bushes in the garden surrounding to avoid any damage to your plants. While all care is taken walking through gardens to get to the window, sometimes damage to plants is unavoidable. Q How long does the argon gas stay in the unit? A For the life of the insulated glazing unit. All double glazing comes with the manufacturer’s 10 year guarantee. If the unit becomes compromised and the argon gas leaks out, warm air will flow into the unit and it will begin to “break down” where the appearance will change to a cloudy look as if there is condensation inside the unit. |
Q How long does the retrofit take?
A We can usually have a full house retrofitted, cleaned up and finished in 1-2 days. Q Are you going to take my windows away? A Our process is all done on site. Your windows remain in the house, all we are doing is replacing the glass and aluminium extrusions. Q Will I be left with all the old glass, aluminium and rubbish etc? A At the end of your retrofit there are considerable amounts of aluminium, glass and other old glazing material. You are more than welcome to keep whatever you like, but will remove all rubbish and unwanted material from your property. We pride ourselves on leaving the property as we find it on our arrival. The aluminium is then taken away, striped down and recycled. The old single glaze glass is recycled and used for sand blasting. |
